VIRGINIA CONTRACTOR
Pre-Licensing Course

A contractor license is required by most states for building and construction professionals, and is a requirement for anyone interested in operating a contracting business. Becoming a licensed contractor can give a contractor the ability to bid on profitable projects, become a respected member of the community, and run a professional building or construction company.

Those applying for an initial contractor license in the Commonwealth of Virginia must complete an 8-hour Pre-licensing business class approved by the Virginia Board for contractors. This class fulfills that requirement.

8-HOUR PRE-LICENSING CLASS WILL BE HELD Sunday September 12, 2010, from 9AM-5PM

The trade & Industry Program of Fairfax county Public School, Adult and Community Education (ACE) is working in partnership with Academia de Construccion Residencial (ACR) to provide three exiting new certificate program 144-hours in length.

Our new program will equip Spanish-speaking individuals with basic construction skills while emphasizing English language proficiency for on-the-job (OJT) communication. Right now we are delivering training in basic carpentry, plumbing, blueprint reading and electricity.

Students receive 36-hours of hands-on training in each of those areas. Instruction is presented in both English and Spanish, thus, students gain a solid understanding of their craft while achieving that essential language proficiency for OJT communications. Students who complete all four classes are eligible to receive an FCPS Construction Specialist Certificate. They will be qualified to work in the construction field, work in the home improvement field, operate a handyman business, operate a home improvement business, or advance into an apprenticeship program.

Classes are held at 5608 General Washington Drive, Alexandria, VA 22312. For more information about this exciting training opportunity, please contact 703-941-4841.

I will be happy to arrange a time when you can come visit our training center or a time for us to come talk with you at your location to find out how we can better serve your training needs.
